Mexicana

28/01/11

It seems to be a growing custom these years to give a theme to your big birthday bashes. Solid Gold, Disco 40, just to name a few. Last weekend we were invited to a 40th birthday party a la Mexicana.

At first I was not inspired, we were out of tequila and it’s not like we have a chihuahua to give us ideas. But being a semi-hairless blond I always dream of, well… being more hairy… The results surpassed my expectations and the outfit was a great success. And of course no woman can be missing her latino pimp.

Special mention for Lady Cactus, Karyn — someone very famous once said: It’s not easy being green. Not in your case!

Continuing a little bit along the lines of last weeks post about how we can’t seem to live without technology, have you ever thought of what a toaster is? And what it’s really made of and how it’s assembled? No? Neither had I. I would just pop the piece of bread into the machine and let it work it’s magic. Until I stumbled upon this project.

As you might have noticed DIY is quite big these days. One the one hand (maybe) people are trying to be more eco-friendly by reusing things they don’t  need, plus it’s always good to brag about accomplishments. But not many are hardcore like Thomas Thwaites, who woke up one morning and thought to himself, “I’m gonna make myself a toaster” (though I’m not sure that this was the way it actually happened…) What he really wanted to do was make a toaster from ABSOLUTE scratch. So he went on a journey to the mines of the UK to get all his ingredients himself.

I don’t want to give it all away, you should watch his TED talk :)

These Canadian guys generate awesome dance stuff! Come on, pull some moves and take them out tonight, it’s Friday!

The melting pot of elespacio

There are just things in this world that you can’t (or shouldn’t) slam into any rigid category. Here you will find random tidbits (be it physical or simply ideas) that don’t fit into any of the other categories we painstakingly thought out. The only thing you can be sure of is that anything and everything you find in this section probably made us laugh hysterically and fall off our chairs. Or maybe it just brought back fond, funny or frightening memories from our childhood. Or we just think its plain awesome. Whatever may be the case, we think you can’t go on with your life without seeing these things…
