If you’re ever in a pickle about where to put your party snacks…

Last Friday, we had our annual Christmas dinner.
Before the restaurant, we decided to have a drink or two (or three) at the studio, to take advantage of our new beautiful giant dining table, which we have come to call The Resolution Table.
We went to a little restaurant in Raval called Lo de Flor, that opened a little while back (in place of Lempika). Cozy decoration and delicious food and wine. What else could we ask for to celebrate Christmas?! Below you can see the only usable picture we took… unfortunately the rest of the boys aren’t on it, because amongst all the fun we forgot to take a whole group photo…
We hope all you also had so much fun at your xmas dinners/parties as we did and our wish is that all your dirtiest wished come true this Holiday season!

Jen Stark definitely has incredible patience. I can’t even begin to imagine all the time it takes to cut out all those intricate layers… If you feel like you need to look at something beautifully colorful, go check out her site!

Oldschool vintage childhood (or otherwise) photos reenacted by the same subjects many years later, with every little detail in place including location, props and lighting (imagine all the work that went into finding everything!). This is Irina Werning‘s photography series titled “Back to the Future”.
Then there is the less professional version of this project on zefrank.com where people just send in their old photos together with the reenaction. Not so perfect down to every little detail, but just as fun!

Good news for those who still haven’t mastered the world of HTML5. A Google tool called Swiffy that converts Flash into just that, HTML5.
Works good for simpler stuff like banners, but according to the comments in this article, be careful when converting more complicated projects.

Branding 10.000 lakes is the personal project of Nicole Meyer, an art director based in Minnesota (a.k.a the 10.000 lakes land).
As she says in her website, lake logos have a tendency to be fairly ugly. That means 10.000 ugly logos only in Minnesota. A lot.
So, she decided to release all this ugliness from Minnesota and brand all the lakes. She will be publishing one logo a day over 27 years to hit ‘em all.

Oh Kerning!
The world would be magical if letters could guess, by themselves, how distant (or how close) from their “mates” they should be. Of course the world is what it is, letters don’t have brains and designers have to control these relationships.
At least now we can have some fun while practicing it!
Here’s a kerning game:
